Singer Prince Rogers Nelson is dead.
The legend’s publicist Yvette Noel- Shure officially confirmed this. He was 57. The official course of death is yet to be disclosed. A representative of Prince said:
“it is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57.”
There had been a report of a death earlier this morning at the Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, but the identity of the deceased person was unknown.
It had earlier been reported that Prince had been battling some flu like symptoms. The singer’s private jet was forced to make an emergency landing on the 15th of April in Illinois and this was as a result of an undisclosed medical issue, however the singer was said to have performed at a show the next day. The singer had earlier cancelled two shows and his last show was in Atlanta a week ago.
The news of the death of the legend has been received with much grief and shock amongst his fans. His passing has been compared with the also premature death of Michael Jackson. It’s important to remember that in the 80s and 90s they both were such big stars that it was almost difficult to tell who the bigger star was. Prince Rogers Nelson’s sudden death is also shocking because he has no known addictions or medical issues.
He will be missed by his family and fans alike. Rest in peace Prince.
