They are known as the Autozik group – a group comprising six males and one female – Ogbu Ikenna, Callistus Ezeigwe, Nnamdi Nwobodo, Victor Obinani, Fidelis Ominigbo, Ifeanyi Ezeanolue and Chinaza Okoro.
Supervised by Dr. C.H. Achebe, these final year engineering students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra state have made their institution very proud by designing and constructing a mini bus with locally sourced materials made to suit Nigeria’s topography and climatic conditions.
It took about five months to complete and has such a beautiful finish as is untypical for made-in-Nigeria products.
Surprisingly, the mini bus was constructed using mere hand tools with help from Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and other design tools.
If the government of Nigeria, with its advertized interest in initiating a technological boom, would only beam its searchlight in the direction of these innovators and encourage them with funding, then the sky surely will be not be able to hold them down.
